<Part 2>

Describe a time when you helped someone

You should say:

  • Where did you help him/her?
  • Why did you help?
  • How did you help?
  • And explain how you felt about it.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to assist a colleague of mine at work. She was tasked with developing marketing strategies, but her background in design left her somewhat unprepared for the intricacies of marketing and public relations, areas in which I have a degree and some experience.

Recognizing her dilemma, I decided to step in and offer my assistance. I shared with her a marketing strategy I had previously devised for a project, along with examples of advertising campaigns I had worked on. This not only gave her a practical framework to reference but also helped her understand the theoretical underpinnings of effective marketing.

Helping her was incredibly rewarding for me. Despite being her peer and not her supervisor, the experience momentarily elevated my sense of responsibility and leadership within the team. It was gratifying(흐믓한, 기쁜) to see her gain confidence and develop her skills in an area outside her expertise. The situation also underscored the value of collaboration and knowledge sharing in a professional setting. Overall, it was a fulfilling experience that strengthened our working relationship and contributed positively to our project's success.

<Part 3>

1. Should people be very kind when they help others?

Absolutely, kindness is a fundamental aspect of offering assistance to others. When people are kind in their actions, it not only elevates the value of the help provided but also fosters a positive environment that encourages mutual support and empathy. Kindness in helping others creates a ripple effect, encouraging the recipients to pay it forward, thus strengthening social bonds and community spirit.

2. Should children be taught to be kind to others?

Teaching children to be kind from a young age is crucial for their personal development and for the well-being of society as a whole. Kindness fosters compassion, empathy, and a sense of responsibility towards others. It helps children develop healthy relationships and become considerate individuals. Educational systems and parents alike play a vital role in embedding these values, which are essential for nurturing a harmonious and inclusive society.

3. Should parents help their kids with their homework?

Parents should indeed offer support with homework, but it's important to strike a balance. Their role should be more about guiding and encouraging independent problem-solving rather than providing direct answers. This approach helps children develop critical thinking skills and a sense of responsibility for their own learning, while still feeling supported.

4. What kind of advice should parents give to their children?

Parents should offer advice that nurtures their children's growth, self-esteem, and moral values. This includes guiding them on making wise decisions, understanding the importance of kindness and respect, and encouraging them to pursue their passions and interests. Equally important is teaching them resilience and the ability to learn from failures, preparing them for the challenges of life.

5. Should parents give children advice? Why?

Yes, parents should give advice to their children as they have more life experience and wisdom to share. Providing advice in a supportive and non-intrusive manner can help children navigate the complexities of life, make informed decisions, and avoid potential pitfalls. It's a way of preparing them for independence while ensuring they feel supported and valued.

6. Can kids provide any help to parents?

Children can certainly offer help to their parents in various ways, which can be as simple as assisting with household chores or offering emotional support. Children's perspectives can also be refreshing and insightful, sometimes offering solutions adults might overlook. The act of helping fosters a sense of responsibility and strengthens family bonds, promoting a culture of mutual support within the family unit.
